Old Panasonic KX-NT553 [manual]
New YeaLink T46U [manual]
Need to forward all your calls from your old Panasonic KX-NT553 phone to another number, such as your temporary 8x8 phone number? No problem!
Forwarding from Panasonic KX-NT553:
- Pick up the handset of your KX-NT553 phone (or press the "Speaker Phone" button for a hands-free experience).
- Dial the code *7102 (star, 7, 1, 0, 2).
- Enter the 10-digit phone number you want your calls forwarded to starting with a 9 for an outside line. (Ex: 94055991234#), ending with a hash/pound sign).
- Listen for confirmation tone, then ...
- ... press the "Speaker Phone" button again (or hang the handset up), to confirm.
What it should all look like in the above example is: *710294055991234# (listen for confirmation tone, hang up).
That's it! All your incoming calls will now be forwarded to the external phone number you entered.
Cancel/Stop Call Forwarding from Panasonic KX-NT553:
If something doesn't seem right and you need to revert things back to normal again, you can cancel/stop call forwarding from your Panasonic desk phone using these steps:
- Pick up the handset of your KX-NT553 phone (or press the "Speaker Phone" button for a hands-free experience).
- Dial the code *7100 (star, 7, 1, 0, 0).
- Listen for confirmation tone, then ...
- ... press the "Speaker Phone" button again (or hang the handset up), to confirm.
What this should all look like in the above example is: *7100 (listen for the confirmation tone, hang up -- The # at the end isn't needed when cancelling call forwarding)
Curious to know what all that does in the Panasonic PBX? Just some extra details you can ignore if you are not interested.
Extras:
- * - We're about to reconfigure something
- 7 - Forward calls
- 102 - All calls, instantly (100 cancels/stops forwarding, 103 forwards if busy, 104 forwards if no answer)
- 9 - Outside line/External call
- 4055991234 - The full 10-digit phone number. (This example is actually local time and temperature! Neat!)
- # - Do it/Finish/Save/Execute/Make It So! (is not needed when cancelling call forwarding)
- Hang up/Press speaker phone button again to disconnect
