Having trouble with your Outlook storage? Follow these simple steps to free up space in your Outlook (Exchange Online) mailbox.
- Log into OWA:
- Open a web browser and go to Outlook Web Access.
- Enter your email and password, then click "Sign In". You might be MFA challenged as well.
- Open Settings:
- Click the cog/gear ⚙️ icon at the top-right corner of the page.
- Go to Storage Settings:
- On the left of the next menu, choose General.
- After, click on Storage.
- Review Storage Usage:
- Check how much space each folder is using. Look at your Inbox, Sent Items, Deleted Items, and Junk Email folders.
- Empty Deleted Items:
- Click on the Deleted Items folder.
- Select all items and click "Empty folder" to delete them.
- Empty Junk Email:
- Click on the Junk Email folder.
- Select all items and click "Empty folder" to delete them.
- Delete Old Emails (optional, additional steps):
- Go to your Inbox or Sent Items.
- Sort emails by date or size to find old or large emails.
- Select emails you no longer need and delete them.
- Check Storage After Cleanup:
- Go back to Storage settings ⚙️ to see your updated storage usage. This can take quite some time to finish, but results as far as any related errors should end immediately.
Tips:
- Regularly empty your Deleted Items and Junk Email folders.
- Save large attachments to OneDrive and delete them from your emails.
By following these steps, you can keep your Outlook mailbox clean and avoid storage problems!
