Modified on Mon, 13 Jan at 5:17 PM

Are you looking to set up Outlook with your Office 365 email on your iPhone or Android phone, device, or tablet? In this guide, we'll walk you through the installation process and show you how to access Outlook contacts on your device without syncing personal contacts. Plus, we'll ensure that incoming and outgoing calls and texts remain seamless. Let's get started!

We've found some YouTube videos for your viewing consideration.

Android:

Apple iPhone (iOS):

(Recommended/Supported) How to install Outlook and Office apps on iOS devices

(Not Recommended/Not Supported) iPhone: How to Setup Exchange/Office 365 Mail Account

This is not recommended because instead of using Outlook, you're using the iPhone's built-in Mail application, setting it up as an Exchange email account. If you're an Android user, using its built-in Mail application is also not recommended, and not supported. While this is overall fine for general use, there are some features in Outlook that will not be available here, causing an inconsistent user experience. This is why we recommend the top video, over this one. We just provided this video as an extra option. Please know that IT will not support the built-in Apple iOS/Android Mail application.

Step 1: Download and Install Outlook

  1. Open the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android).
  2. Search for "Microsoft Outlook" and tap on the official Outlook app.
  3. Tap "Install" or "Get" to download and install the app on your device.
  4. Once the installation is complete, tap "Open" to launch Outlook.

Step 2: Add your Exchange/Office 365 Email Account

  1. On the Outlook home screen, tap "Get Started" or the plus icon (+).
  2. Enter your work email address and tap "Continue."
  3. If prompted, select "Work or school account" and enter your password.
  4. Follow any additional on-screen prompts to complete the account setup.

Step 3: Accessing Outlook Contacts

  1. Open the Outlook app on your device.
  2. Tap the "Contacts" icon located at the bottom menu.
  3. You'll find your Outlook contacts listed here. You can scroll, search, or filter contacts as needed.
  4. To add a new contact, tap the plus icon (+) and provide the necessary details.
  5. Outlook contacts are separate from your device's personal contacts, ensuring privacy and organization.

Step 4: Managing Calls and Texts

  1. Outlook allows you to seamlessly integrate with your device's calling and texting capabilities.
  2. When you receive a call or text, Outlook will display the notification as it normally does on your device.
  3. To make a call or send a text using Outlook, open the contact's details within the app and tap the phone or message icon.
  4. Your calls and texts will be made through your device's native calling and messaging apps.

Congratulations! You've successfully installed Outlook for your Office 365 email and learned how to access and manage Outlook contacts on your iPhone or Android device. Enjoy the seamless integration of your email, calls, and texts!

We hope this guide has been helpful to you. Stay connected and organized with Outlook and make the most of your Office 365 email experience!
