✅ Allowed Uses (with approval)
- Office Apps: We may use personal phones or tablets to access Outlook, Teams, and other Microsoft Office apps—but not native mail apps like Apple Mail or Samsung Email.
- IT Tools: IT staff may use personal devices to connect to infrastructure tools like Ubiquiti UniFi, when job-relevant and secure.
- Security Apps: Building Managers may use approved mobile apps on personal phones to view cameras from their Network Video Recorder (NVR). Similar for AccessXpert, which is controlled access.
Reason: These above are examples of delegated accesses which can be changed or revoked, as appropriate. As long as they're accessed and used via their authorized and directly aligned applications, usage on a personal device is allowed.
❌ Not Allowed
- Native Mail Apps: Limited experience accessing company email via built-in mail apps.
- Building Systems: Personal devices must not be used to connect to HVAC or Building Automation Systems. The only exception is if connected via VPN, and not all users or buildings may qualify for this kind of connectivity. Likewise, this kind of connectivity is directly ushered and supported by IT, if qualified.
- Unapproved Camera Access: Viewing security cameras on personal laptops is not permitted unless using approved software and security protocols such as VPNs, similar to Building Systems, above.
? Why This Matters
These rules protect sensitive systems and data while allowing flexibility where appropriate. Always check with IT before using a personal device for work-related access by opening a ticket via email sent to it@robinson-park.com.
